Dublin City University (DCU) is Ireland’s University of Enterprise. Set on a leafy campus within a residential area on the north side of Dublin and only 15 minutes drive from the capital’s airport, DCU offers students a modern campus with convenient access not only to the city’s main attractions and night life but also to the rest of Europe.

DCU is a research intensive university!  We offer employment-relevant, innovative and interdisciplinary programmes that produce highly regarded graduates for the new global workplace. An emphasis on economic relevance, focus on enterprise and flexibility continues to attract large numbers of high calibre students from Ireland and abroad and ensures a strong demand for DCU graduates in the workplace. DCU was the first university in Ireland to introduce paid work placements (INTRA) as an integral part of its degree programmes.

Undergraduate at DCU

Students at DCU come from all over Ireland and abroad for undergraduate degree programmes. DCU offers its students interdisciplinary, innovative and employment-relevant undergraduate degree programmes across four major faculties - Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Health, Engineering and Computing. All undergraduate programmes provided by DCU are Honours Bachelor degrees. All Non-EU candidates are advised to apply early. Applicants can apply from 15th October of the year prior to entry. Postgraduate at DCU

Many international students choose Dublin City University for their postgraduate degree programmes as the university is known for its academic excellence in education and research with several national centres of excellence.

DCU offers three types of postgraduate programmes: postgraduate taught, postgraduate research Masters and Research PhD.

For postgraduate taught programmes, apply online through the Postgraduate Application Centre (PAC). Applicants requiring visas are advised to apply by 15th July. 

Research at DCU     

DCU places great value on high quality research activity. DCU has developed its own research specialisms, creating a number of national centres of excellence that collaborate with other universities and industry internationally. These research centres have transcended traditional boundaries and have been extended to include combinations of academic disciplines such as biotechnology, electronic engineering, physics and chemistry.

All postgraduate research applications are processed online through the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC). Foundation Courses at DCU

The International Foundation Certificate Programme and the International Foundation Pre-Masters programme are specially designed for students who meet the Academic Entry Requirements but whose English language competency does not reach the level required for direct entry into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes.  Students who enrol in these programmes will take part in intensive English language, academic skills and intercultural courses as well as specialist modules from their chosen target degree programme. Upon successful completion of the programme, students are guaranteed entry into their target programme and will receive exemptions accordingly. English Language Centre

DCU Language Services is the English language training centre located on Dublin City University (DCU) campus. The campus location offers students the opportunity to enjoy the community atmosphere of the university, meet new Irish friends and practise their English outside of class. The centre is dedicated to helping students to improve their English language fluency, undertake international exams, or acquire professional language skills to enhance their career opportunities.
