Why Study at American College Dublin?

1. Interactive Lectures – Small class sizes are maintained in order to provide the optimal teaching and learning experience. Lectures tend to be discussion based and allow for more student-to-lecturer and student-to-student interaction. In combination with our nationally diverse student population, this interaction enriches each module with a culturally wide and stimulating perspective.

2. Post-graduation outcomes – ACD has an excellent record for the outcomes of its students following graduation, in terms of placement in the field of study, onward progression to further studies and longer term career development, in Ireland and in the broader international context.

3. Internship modules – Several of ACD’s courses, including the BA in International Business and MB in International Business, require the completion of an internship module before graduation. Students thus graduate equipped with relevant professional experience and contacts.

4. Central location – ACD is located in the heart of Dublin on Merrion Square; a 4-minute walk from Pearse St. DART station and 7 minutes from the Dawson St. LUAS stop. Students have the opportunity to avail of the art, sport, and social offerings available in Dublin city centre; not to mention the greater metropolitan area and the rest of Ireland, all easily accessible by public transport.

ACD’s mission statement:
American College Dublin seeks to offer the best characteristics of Irish and American higher education in an intimate environment underpinned by the holistic liberal arts model of learning, enabling domestic and international students to realize their potential and participate successfully in the world.

American College Dublin is a private not-for-profit liberal arts institution accredited by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and for which graduating students of programmes at level-eight and level-nine on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications validated by QQI receive QQI awards. In addition to its Irish accreditation, ACD is accredited by the US accrediting agency the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), which accredits five of the top-twenty ranked institutions of higher education in the world (Princeton, Cornell, Columbia, Johns Hopkins universities and the University of Pennsylvania).

Established over twenty-five years ago, American College Dublin is located in the centre of Dublin on Merrion Square in a number of Georgian era houses, one of which is the childhood home of Oscar Wilde.

ACD was founded as an independent educational trust in May 1993 by Lynn University, a liberal arts institution located in Boca Raton, Florida. The college admitted its first liberal arts and business degree students in September 1993 and graduated its first class in 1996.

Financial Aid
Citizens of the United States of America are entitled to apply for financial assistance from the US federal government to pay for education at an eligible postsecondary institution. There are three categories of federal student aid: full grants, work-study grants, and student loans. American College Dublin participates in the latter of these: the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (full grants, or ‘Pell grants’, are only available to institutions located in the USA). Students who are availing of financial aid will require the American College Dublin institution code: G40214

Accommodation
Our experienced student support staff understand that each student has different housing needs. With an accent on the experience, we work with students to consider several living options that provide multicultural social experiences, familiar comforts, independence, or anything in between.

Study Abroad
ACD offers semester, summer, and yearlong study abroad experiences to students enrolled at other universities. Our study abroad students can earn transferable credit while enjoying the many amenities of Irish social and cultural life.
