IT Tralee is a government-funded Higher Education Institute located in the scenic South West of Ireland, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate Bachelor and Masters programmes in Business, Computing, Tourism, Hospitality, Multimedia, TV and Radio & New Media, Music technology, Tourism, Early Childhood Learning, Engineering, General and Mental Health Nursing, Health & Leisure, Construction & Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy & Energy Management and Chemical & Life Sciences. Small class sizes, an excellent staff-student ratio and a strong emphasis on learning through practical application, combine to make an interactive dynamic learning environment.  With a community of over 3,500 students and 250 academic staff, consisting of a diverse mix of home and international students, you are guaranteed a warm welcome.

IT Tralee shares a joint campus with Kerry Technology Park (enterprise incubation space) promoting a culture of enterprise and synergy between businesses and highly-skilled graduates.

Campus initiatives with programmes like the Young Entrepreneur and the Endeavour Business mentoring programmes combine to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in our graduates.

Research at IT Tralee

The Institute of Technology, Tralee is at the forefront of innovative research, and collaborative links with industry are an integral and fundamental part of research undertaken at the Institute.  They serve to facilitate the transfer of advances in academic research to applications in business and industry. 

The research strategy being pursued is one which seeks to further strengthen the capacity of the Institute in a manner that will both enhance the educational programme being offered to our students and also enable us to serve the economic, social and cultural life of the region.  In addition to funded research, significant research work is being undertaken by staff members as part of their studies in Masters and PhD Programmes.

Erasmus Programme at IT Tralee

IT Tralee students can avail of the increasing opportunities for study in Europe. Students receive assistance with travel, accommodation and academic arrangements for their time in one of our 90 plus partner European Universities & Higher Education Institutions.

What about Work Placements?

IT Tralee students can do their work placement in any EEA country and receive an EU Erasmus work placement grant.


Foundation Courses at IT Tralee

The international foundation programme significantly improves students' academic knowledge, English language level and study skills to reach the required level to progress with their choice of undergraduate or postgraduate academic programme. Small classes combined with expert lecturers focused on helping the student to improve and progress make this programme a very attractive choice for students transitioning into the Irish education system, especially those who need to improve their English language ability. All students are prepared to help them to take an IELTS exam at the end of their year. The student is prepared across the four language disciplines of oral, listening, written and spoken to ensure they are equipped to succeed when they move onto their academic programme.


Student Support Services at IT Tralee

IT Tralee has developed a comprehensive Student Services programme to cater for the needs of a growing student population. The aim of these services is to provide the necessary support to enable you to pursue your academic programmes and career goals.

IT Tralee has developed a range of student support services to assist students with their academic development and with personal matters. In addition, while pursuing their academic goals students have an opportunity to participate in a wide and varied programme of sports and social events organised through over forty clubs and societies. The Institute has a Students' Union with a full-time President along with two Vice-Presidents, who are elected on an annual basis. The Student Services Office at IT Tralee and the Students' Union co-operate in the provision and development of student services.
