An introduction

LYIT is a busy, lively campus that attracts a mix of 3,000 students both from the local area and from 31 different countries.  This provides a vibrant array of cultures and activities on campus in addition to a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere where students and staff work closely together.

Our modern integrated campuses in Letterkenny and Killybegs encourage strong academic learning and career-focused practical experience.  We have excellent facilities in all departments, such as, a suite of graphic design studios, state-of-the-art nursing resources, special purpose laboratories, training kitchens and restaurant, and an on-campus business development centre - CoLab - to support spin-off enterprises.

Every course we offer teaches the latest knowledge and skills that employers demand.

Location

LYIT is located in a very scenic environment in Donegal, the outdoor capital of Ireland.  Both campuses are close to Letterkenny and Killybegs town centres.

Student Services

Central to the college's educational ethos is the importance we place on the holistic development of the individual students.  LYIT has a number of post graduate opportunities through research, many working in conjunction with industry.

Outside of the teaching spaces, students will find other useful facilities, including meeting spaces, performance areas, chill-out space, recreation rooms, and several restaurant areas, serving different types of food.

Other useful facilities include a bank branch with ATM, oratory, shop, vending, reprographics and postal facilities.  The on-campus sports facilities are excellent and comprise an all-weather, floodlit pitch, and a hall equipped for all sorts of sports – including a climbing wall.

LYIT also offers a medical centre, a counselling service and a careers office.

There are special access facilities for students with disabilities.

Library & Information Services

The LYIT Library is comprehensive and is equipped with wireless access for students.  All students have access to an extensive range of networked computer facilities on campus, which are constantly upgraded to incorporate the latest computing technology.  The college’s objective is to replicate the highest standards found in any advanced technology environment.
